You never know what kind of incredible encounters you'll have with nature while on Kiawah Island! On a recent morning marsh kayak trip, one of our naturalists and two guests spotted a lone dolphin swimming in their direction near Captain Sam’s Inlet. 🐬 The guests pulled their paddles out of the water and floated quietly, letting the dolphin go past at its leisure (great dolphin-watching etiquette!). But this dolphin never changed direction, instead going directly underneath their kayak! Always remember that dolphins are wild, protected animals and never approach or try to touch or feed a dolphin. If a dolphin comes within 150 feet of your kayak, do just like these guests did and pull all paddles and dangling limbs out of the water and float quietly! If you do your best not to interfere with their natural behavior, you never know what great experience you may have! Plan your next kayak tour or dolphin encounter by visiting the link in our bio.
